What We Believe

At Legacy Academy, we believe that God has given parents the primary responsibility to teach, disciple, and train their children in His ways. Scripture says, “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children” (Deuteronomy 6:4-7, NKJV). We believe this passage shows both the heart of biblical discipleship and the order God established for it: His truth first filling the hearts of His people, then being taught faithfully to the next generation.

When this passage begins with “Hear, O Israel,” we understand it as a call to the people of God as a whole. Parents are the primary disciplors of their children, but they were never meant to carry that calling in isolation. We believe the church should come alongside families, encouraging them, strengthening them, and helping them keep Christ at the center of their homes and their children’s education. In that way, a community of believers supporting parents in Christ-centered education is one way we seek to embody the spirit of Deuteronomy 6.

We also believe that education is never neutral. What children are taught shapes how they think, what they love, and how they understand the world. Because of that, we believe education should be rooted in biblical truth and centered on Christ. Our desire is not simply to help children gain knowledge, but to help them grow in wisdom, character, and faith as they learn to see every subject and every part of life through the lens of God’s Word.

Legacy Academy: What We Believe

What We Do

Legacy Academy is a Christ-centered homeschool support model that meets Monday and Thursday each week from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Johnson City, TN. We partner with homeschooling families by providing structured community learning days while parents continue their child’s education at home during the rest of the week. We accept students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Our structure is similar to that of a one room school house with one main learning group. Each student has their own grade level Language Arts, while History, Art, Sciences are thematic. Families are responsible for their own math. This model supports students on campus and at home, because they always have a family style learning environment. Our goal is to come alongside families with a Christ-centered community that supports both discipleship and learning.

What We Require

At Legacy Academy, we believe Christ-centered education is a partnership, and parental involvement is non-negotiable. For that reason, all families must be legally homeschooling through either an approved umbrella school or through their own county and state requirements. Proof of legal homeschool registration or enrollment will be required each year for continued participation in the academy.

We also require that all students use My Father’s World curriculum. This helps us maintain consistency, accountability, and unity across our learning pods while keeping Christ at the center of the educational experience. Families are welcome to add to the curriculum at home, but all students will be expected to stay on track with the required lessons.

Because Legacy Academy is built on shared commitment and family partnership, all parents will also be required to serve in some volunteer capacity for their children to be eligible for enrollment. We believe a strong Christ-centered learning community is not built by a few people alone, but by families working together with a shared purpose to support the discipleship and education of the next generation.

Legacy Academy: What We Require

Why Families Choose Us

Families should choose Legacy Academy because we are committed to coming alongside parents as they fulfill their God-given role to disciple and educate their children. We are not simply offering classes. We are building a Christ-centered community where learning is rooted in biblical truth, parents remain actively involved, and children are encouraged to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and character. Our hybrid model gives families meaningful support while still preserving the parent’s primary role in home education.

At Legacy Academy, students learn in a warm, community-centered environment, unified curriculum, and a shared commitment to keeping Christ at the center of every subject. We believe education shapes far more than academics. It shapes worldview, convictions, and the heart. For families who want a homeschool community that values biblical discipleship, strong partnership, and purposeful learning, Legacy Academy offers a place to grow together.
